What is Z Secure Socials?

Z Secure Socials is a web app for private text and voice messaging. Open Comms for one-to-one conversations and voice notes, then use the separate social feeds to share posts and follow community activity. Groups and marketplace tools are available in the wider social experience, while encrypted messaging stays in its own space.

Keeping these spaces separate helps you choose the right place for each kind of interaction: use Comms for conversations that need message-content encryption, and use the social areas for posts, group discussions, and listings. Z is built for people who want both kinds of connection in one web app without confusing their encryption scope.

How to start messaging

Sign up, choose your account details, and create an encryption passphrase when Comms asks you to set up your key. After setup, open Comms to begin a conversation. The passphrase protects the backup of your private key, so choose one you can remember and keep it private.

When you use Comms on another device, follow the recovery prompt and enter that same passphrase to restore the protected key. If you are not ready to use messaging, you can still explore the social parts of your account and return to Comms later.

Before sending anything sensitive, check that you are in the intended conversation and that your device is up to date. Encryption is one part of a private messaging practice; the people in a conversation, the devices they use, and the information around a connection still matter.

Encryption scope

Comms uses X25519 key agreement and XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption for message content. Your private key is protected by your passphrase, while each conversation derives its own shared key for its participants.

Know the boundaries

Posts, groups, and marketplace content are not end-to-end encrypted. Content encryption does not hide transport, device, or metadata, and a forgotten passphrase cannot decrypt message history. Keep your devices and account access protected as well.
